Compostaggio in situ per la tutela, la valorizzazione e la gestione Ecosostenibile dei Castagneti (PSR – CompoEcoCast)

The project aims at introducing logistic and process innovations, both agronomic and technological, in the chestnut ecoystem, relative to the management of c residues and therefore of the carbon cycle. The protocol is founded on the preparation of ligno-cellulosic piles deriving from both crop residues of the chestnut (fallen hedgehogs, pruning residues) and from the cleaning of the undergrowth, for the production of quality compost The project aim is thus the preservation and enhancement of the intrinsic biodiversity and the preservation of the biological fertility by improving the structure and…

Olive Biodiversity for Saving Salento from Xylella (BIOSAVEX)

The Project will evaluate the response to natural infections of olive tree cultivars and clones of the cv Leccino to Xylella fastidiosa, for which there are field and molecular evidence indicating resistance to the bacterium. Transcriptomic and anatomo-physiology studies will be carried out in Leccino and in the susceptible cultivar Ogliarola salentina, aimed at evaluating the mechanisms of interaction and resistance / susceptibility to X. fastidiosa infections. Protocols for the management of olive orchards will also be implemented and validated to evaluate the use of the selected cultivars in different…

Biocontrol of Xylella and its vector in olive trees for integrated pest management (BIOVEXO)

The BIOVEXO Project explores innovative biopesticides, which target the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa. Six candidate biocontrol solutions (bacterial strains, microbial metabolites, plant extracts, entomopathogenic fungus) acting either against X. fastidiosa or its vector will be tested within the BIOVEXO Project. These biopesticides will be evaluated for use in curative and preventive approaches of X. fastidiosa to control infections in olive and almond. Following the small-scale on-field validation and improved formulation, the BIOVEXO Project aims to upscale production of best-performing biopesticides. A large pilot scale on-field validation of control strategies for integrated pest management, including a real-life…

FlavescEnza DOrata: verso l’identificazione dei meccanismi di ResistenzA e/o tolleranza in vite (FEDORA)

Flavescence dorée (FD), a quarantine disease that afflicts the viticulture of Southern Europe, is a real threat to the regional economy. Since the management of FD is based exclusively on preventive control strategies that are both ecologically impacting (mandatory insecticide treatments) and expensive (elimination of infected plants and their replacement with certified plant material), the project aims to identify alternative and sustainable control strategies of the diseases, based on the identification of genes potentially involved in the resistance / tolerance of grapevine to FD. In a previous project (RETrOFiD) possible…

Impronte molecolari e meccanismi fisiologici alla base dell’adattamento della vite a stress ambientali estremi (GRAPEFIT)

The GRAPEFIT project was conceived to deepen the physiological and molecular mechanisms at the basis of grapevine adaptability to drought events either occurring over a restricted time span or long-lasting. The main objectives of the scheduled research activities will be: 1) to demonstrate whether vines in vitro regenerated through somatic embryogenesis (named somaclones) are more prompt than the mother plants to face sudden severe water stress and/or display better physiological performances following stress relief (recovery); 2) to elucidate the molecular bases underpinning the grapevine physiological adaptation to recurrent and long-lasting…
