Curriculum Vitae

I work with microscopic techniques (transmission electron microscopy, optical microscopy, fluorescence and confocal microscopy) for cellular biology studies and for identification and characterization of plant, insect, fungal, bacterial, animal viruses and of phytoplasmas.

I am interested in the microscopic diagnosis of virus presence in symptomatic plants, in the study of cellular mechanisms of the infection of viruses in plants and of phytoplasmas in plants and in insect vectors, and in the development of new strategies for a sustainable control of plant diseases.

I am involved in dissemination and I am a member of the IPSP work group “communication and scientific dissemination” (GruCoDiS).

In the past, my scientific interests concerned mycorrhizal fungi and the study of their biodiversity and interaction with heavy metals. Afterwards, I worked with rice both on its interaction with soil fungi and on breeding using non-conventional methods. I have been using techniques of molecular and cellular biology, microbiology, biochemistry and microscopy.

I obtained University degree in Biological Science in 1999 and PhD degree in Biology and Biotechnology of Fungi in 2003. I have been holder of scholarship grants and postDoc positions from 2003 to 2009 at University of Torino, University of Piemonte Orientale, Rice Research Center of the Council for Research in Agriculture of Vercelli. From 2007 to 2011 I have been CEO of an Academic Spin-off.
