Since 2014 I work on phytoplasma diseases focusing on phytoplasma-hosts interplays. I am interested in elucidating the molecular interactions involved in the infective process, identifying the genes involved in phytoplasma tolerance and sensitivity, and recognizing the molecular processes associated with phytoplasma transmission. Moreover, I am working on the influence of phytoplasma on insect microbiome dynamics.
Arabidopsis thaliana for plants and Euscelidius variegatus for insect vectors are the model organisms used preferentially. Molecular biology, transcriptomic, proteomic and microscopy are the main techniques adopted.
