Giovanni Bubici

Dr. Giovanni Bubici, PhD in plant pathology (2006), is interested in integrated disease management, biological control, plant genetic resistance, plant-pathogen and microbe-microbe interactions in horticultural crops (e.g., tomato) and olive trees. His research is focused on soil-borne plant pathogens (e.g., Verticillium dahliae, Pyrenochaeta lycopersici, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense), beneficial microorganisms (e.g., Streptomyces spp.), and viruses (e.g., Tomato spotted wilt virus, Cucumber mosaic virus). The research is carried out with approaches of conventional plant pathology and ‘-omics’ sciences (e.g., metagenomics, transcriptomics, genomics, functional genomics). Dr. Giovanni Bubici gained skills in statistics and bioinformatics. He has participated in 30 national and international research projects, and he is co-author of 74 publications (H-index 7 and 219 citations), including: 21 full articles in ISI journals, 7 in non-ISI journals, 10 disease notes, 2 book chapters, 29 abstracts, 2 electronic publications, 2 editing of meeting proceedings, and 1 editing of journal special issues. Furthermore, he is an associate editor of Australasian Plant Pathology (Springer), and a guest editor of the special issue entitled ‘Streptomyces microbiomes in agriculture’ of the Pathogens journal (MDPI).
