Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Sara Saviano has a master’s degree in Geology and Applied Geology, achieved in 2021, at the Department of Earth, Environmental and Resources Sciences of the University of Naples Federico II, where she conducted the experimental thesis in Environmental Hydrogeology entitled “Hydrogeological and hydrogeochemical study of the volcanic aquifer of Somma-Vesuvius”.

The thesis was made in collaboration with the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) – Vesuvian Observatory, and the aim was to update and deepen the hydrogeological and hydrogeochemical knowledge of the volcanic aquifer in the Vesuvius area.

A hydrogeological and hydrogeochemical monitoring network of groundwater was designed and built on which a campaign of measurements regarding the groundwater level, the chemical-physical characteristics and the taking of groundwater samples for the subsequent analyzes of the major ionic constituents that were performed at the Laboratory of Geochemistry of Fluids of the Vesuvian Observatory.

From the data obtained it was possible to create, in a GIS environment, a 2D conceptual hydrogeological model and a groundwater flow model referring to the period 2000-2010; in addition, it was possible to analyze the space-time evolution of the aquifer in the Vesuvian area, from 1994 to 2021, the hydrogeochemical characteristics of the groundwater and the natural and anthropogenic factors that influence its chemical composition.
