Curriculum Vitae

Thanks to the various laboratory activities carried out during the years of study at the Faculty of Biotechnological Sciences of Bari and the internship / doctoral activities in the plant pathology laboratories of the University of Bari, I have become familiar with the techniques for analyzing protein and nucleotide sequences for the molecular diagnosis of plant diseases induced by viruses and fungi. During the doctorate at the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria and the “The James Hutton Institute” in Dundee (Scotland), I studied various metagenomic analysis techniques based on NGS sequencing systems for the study of the genetic diversity of soil-borne pathogens in agricultural and forest ecosystems. I also studied various microscopic techniques for the isolation and identification of microorganisms from infected plants and food substrates.
The training course in the CNR began in 2015 with a scholarship at the Institute of Biosciences and Bioresources of Policoro as part of the PIF (Progetti Integrati di Filiera). In 2016 I started my career as a postdoctoral fellow at the IPSP of Bari where I was first involved in the FCRP Project “Defense responses against nematodes and viruses induced by ozone treatments in tomatoes” and later in the MUSA and PROTECTION projects. The research activities are focused on the study of biological and integrated control strategies and the interactions between microorganisms and plant-pathogen with various approaches, from the most “traditional” to the application of “-omics” techniques. I am currently a member of the editorial boards of various MDPI journals and of Frontiers in Agronomy as a review editor. I am also guest co-editor of various special issues of Pathogens and Horticulturae.
I am a co-author of various scientific articles in specialized journals published throughout the entire training course.
