Curriculum Vitae

I’m graduated in Agro-Environmental and Food Biotechnology at the University of Naples Federico II with a thesis in General and Applied Entomology entitled: “Role of Aphidius ervi venom in host regulation”, carried out at the “E. Tremblay” entomology laboratory (Department of Agriculture – Portici, NA). During this work I had the opportunity to use a reverse genetics approach, based on the RNA interference (RNAi) technique for the functional characterization of an aphid parasitoid venom protein, having the opportunity to acquire skills regarding the main molecular biology techniques such as: Extraction of DNA and RNA from insects, quantification of extracted DNA and DNA amplification by PCR, RT-PCR and Real-time RT-PCR. In 2023 I won a fellowship at the IPSP, as part of the URCoFi research project, activity that I am currently continuing with a research grant. My research is focused on phytosanitary emergencies and involves monitoring invasive quarantine insect species, visual inspections, sampling in the field and morfo-bio-molecular characterizations. Other activities concern the setting up and maintenance of insect breedings, in particular of some phytophages and their parasitoids, a key activity for the study of eco-sustainable control methodologies.
