Buone pratiche per l’autocontrollo e la gestione fitosanitaria sostenibile nel vivaismo ornamentale (AUTOFITOVIV)

Aims of the project: push companies to adopt autonomous control criteria to avoid the introduction of alien and / or emerging pathogens and insects. To do this, we intend to draw up a list of those potentially associated with the ornamental species cultivated in the Pistoia district which, with the import nursery activities, could unknowingly be introduced into the territory. At the same time, it intends to establish the technical-scientific criteria and the methodologies to be adopted in the nursery, especially when introducing plant material from non-European countries, such as…

RESEARCH DIRECTOR emilio.guerrieri(AT)cnr.it 06.4993.27815 publications: Orcid personnel details and activity: People Curriculum Vitae The main topic of research is the sustainable control of insect pests of agricultural and forestry plants. The subject of this activity are the insect parasitoids, used in biological control programmes against pests. The main field of investigation include: a: volatile organic compounds regulating the interactions among plant-insect pest -insect parasitoid: insect parasitoids exploit plant volatile organic compounds to locate infested plants and then their victims. These interactions are studied mainly in tomato assessing the role of…

RESEARCHER isabella.pentimone(AT)cnr.it 080.592.92215 publications: Orcid personnel details and activity: People Curriculum Vitae The research activity mainly concerns the study of fungal diseases of Mediterranean crops and plant / pathogen / microbial antagonist interactions investigation. The research carried out helped to determine the etiology of important plant diseases, to define the biology of pathogens, to develop advanced tools for the detection of biocontrol agents and pathogens, and to develop protection strategies for plants and ortho- fruit from infections, in field and post-harvest. Recent research works have concerned the microbial agent Pochonia…

Towards an instrument-free future of molecular diagnostics at the point-of-care H2020-FETOPEN-2018-2020

Point-Of-Care (POC) testing needs to decrease time between sample collection and results, for a faster containment treatment and reduced costs. End-users of a POC test are healthcare personnel in hospital and, in agriculture, nurserymen and phytosanitary inspectors at the field The aim is to use isothermal enzymatic amplification of nucleic acids combined with quantitative smartphone colorimetric detection. The global application of this approach will be demonstrated in infectious disease (Influenza and HIV) in human samples and plant pathogens (Xylella fastidiosa) in plant-tissues. As a major impact, the combination of fast…

Identificazione e analisi Funzionale di geni di insetto vettore coinvolti nella Specificità di Trasmissione di fitoplasmi (FOotSTEP)

The aim of the Project is to identify genes of insect vectors involved in specificity of phytoplasma transmission mechanisms by verifying their role in vivo through functional analysis. Customized molecular reagents, such as recombinant phytoplasma membrane proteins and specific antibodies, will be produced and characterized. These molecules will be used for the analysis of protein interactions with different species of vectors, allowing to identify the insect proteins involved in the interaction with phytoplasmas. RNA interference (RNAi) technique will be used to silence insect genes coding for the proteins previously identified,…
