Curriculum Vitae
Since 2003 I have studied phytoplasma diseases, focusing on diagnosis and interactions among plant-pathogen-insect vector. The main crops studied are strategic crops important for Italian agricolture production and severely affected by phytoplasmas, such as grapevine, apple and other fruit trees and herbaceous plants, also used as model systems. Interactions among plant-pathogen-insect vector are studied at molecular and cellular level by in vitro and in vivo (RNAi) techniques, on different species of leafhopper and planthopper spread in Italy, with main aim of understanding transmission specificity mechanisms.
