Massimiliano Tattini

My research mostly aims explore mechanisms adopted by plants coping with severe stress events of Mediterranean climate. We investigate how plants orchestrate single components of the antioxidant machinery to avoid and counter photo-oxidative stress, on daily basis and during stress conditions of increasingly severity. In particular, how secondary metabolites – volatile and-non volatile isoprenoids and phenylpropanoids – complement the function of primary antioxidant defenses, i.e. antioxidant enzymes. Recent interest also concerns the role of ABA as a potential missing link between isoprenoid and phenylpropanoid biosynthetic pathways.
