Aim of the project is the development of integrated pest management strategies to control Tuta absoluta and other tomato arthropod pests to reduce the use of chemicals products and to eliminate the problem of multiple residues.
Different biological control strategies will be tested with the aim to conserve the indigenous populations of parasitoids and to improve their activity of control. Besides, inoculative releases of antagonists reared in bio factories and commercially available will be performed. Some trials will be performed in a new experimental greenhouse that permits an improvement of growing conditions and a better isolation from external biotic agents. The project provides for the transfer of knowledge from research institutes to commercial farms, through demonstration tests and an active dissemination of trial results.
