Curriculum Vitae

My research path has developed at the interface of plant ecophysiology and chemical ecology, with a particular interest in the role of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in plant-environment interactions. After completing a Master’s degree in Plant and Microbial Biotechnology at the University of Pisa, my research activities focused on the chemical ecology of plant-insect interactions, through two main projects. The first investigated the potential role of BVOCs in prey attraction in Drosera rotundifolia under different water regimes; the second explored the relationships between phylogenetic distance and secondary metabolites in mediating tri-trophic interactions in species of the genus Quercus.
In 2024 I held a research fellowship at the CNR IBE in Bologna within the NEUROPLANT project, focused on the ecophysiological characterisation of plant species for indoor phytoremediation applications.
I am currently carrying out research as a fellow at CNR IPSP, in collaboration with CNR IBE, within the CAPT-TILE project, dedicated to the development of modular systems for urban green infrastructures. The research focuses on the physiological characterisation of the plant species employed and on the quantification of their capacity to absorb CO₂ and atmospheric pollutants, with the aim of providing ecophysiological foundations for the optimisation of nature-based solutions in urban contexts.
