The activities planned under the IPSP BR 20 2026 NA Research Grant involve field and protected-environment (greenhouses, nurseries, etc.) monitoring in Campania of viral diseases affecting cucurbits, solanaceous plants, and roses, with particular focus on the tomato yellow leaf curl New Delhi virus (ToLCNDV) and watermelon crinkle leaf-associated virus 2 (WCLaV-2) in cucurbits, emerging polyviruses in cucurbits and solanaceous plants, and rose rosette virus (RRV) in roses. To this end, samples of suspicious (symptomatic) plant material will be collected and analyzed in the laboratory using molecular diagnostic techniques specific to the viruses being monitored. Furthermore, the results of the sampling and related analyses will be entered into the Regional Phytosanitary Service’s Simfito platform, as required by the program plan of the URCOFI Project, which funds the research fellowship.
