Curriculum Vitae

My research activity focuses on plant physiology and molecular biology applied to the study of plant responses to environmental stresses.
Throughout my training, I have developed expertise in investigating the physiological and molecular mechanisms underlying plant adaptation to adverse conditions, with particular emphasis on drought stress and plant-pathogen interactions, using tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) as a model species. In this context, I have explored the role of plant hormones, bioactive peptides, and microRNAs in regulating the physiological and molecular responses that enable plants to adapt to changing environmental conditions.
Currently, my research is carried out within the TEA4IT project, which aims to develop new grapevine (Vitis vinifera) varieties through New Genomic Techniques (NGTs). My work focuses on the application of genome editing approaches to generate edited lines and on the functional characterization of genes involved in plant responses to environmental stresses. Research activities include the development and validation of experimental strategies for genome editing, the use of in vitro culture systems, and the molecular and ecophysiological characterization of the resulting plant materials. The overall goal is to contribute to the development of novel grapevine genotypes with enhanced resilience to adverse environmental conditions and improved suitability for the challenges posed by climate change.
