Curriculum Vitae

I hold a degree in Agricultural Science and Technology, and I am currently carrying out a research project focused on the epidemiology of Gnomoniopsis castaneae (syn. Gnomoniopsis smithogilvyi), a pathogen of significant phytosanitary concern in chestnut cultivation. This fungus is the causal agent of chestnut fruit rot (Castanea sativa), a disease that in recent decades has gained increasing economic and environmental importance, with repercussions on both the quality of fruits intended for consumption. My research activity focuses on the analysis of the epidemiological mechanisms that regulate the spread of the pathogen, with particular attention to host–pathogen interactions, the climatic factors influencing disease development, and potential strategies for sustainable control. The aim is to contribute to a deeper understanding of the infection dynamics and to propose integrated management approaches that can help mitigate the impact of G. castaneae in chestnut-growing areas.
